ABcom is serving as the telecommunications contractor for the structured cabling infrastructure and paging system at the Del E. Webb expansion project located in Sun City West, Arizona. This project is a six-story tower expansion to the existing Del E. Webb hospital.ABcom is providing a high-performance Category 6 solution to over 3,000 cable locations to support traditional telephony, local area networking (LAN), and wireless local area networking (WLAN). ABcom will also provide the coaxial RF distribution cabling to provide broadcast television to the patient rooms.
ABcom will build out four telecommunications rooms (TRs) in a consistent footprint to facilitate ease of maintenance by the Telco/IT personnel. Copper and fiber optic backbone cabling provides connectivity to each of the four TRs from the adjacent data center/phone room in the existing tower. Redundant copper and fiber optic backbone from each floor’s TR to the corresponding floor’s TR in the existing tower will protect the mission-critical operations of this hospital. ABcom will also furnish and install the paging system to provide communications between staff and priority broadcast paging in the event of an emergency.
ABcom currently provides ongoing service and maintenance work at the Sun Health Del E. Webb Hospital. The scope of work performed at this site includes Category 6 cabling and installation of wireless access points (WAPs) to support the campus-wide deployment of Sun Health’s wireless local area network (WLAN), audio visual cabling to support patient monitors, and miscellaneous work throughout the hospital. All work in an occupied hospital requires the highest levels of precision, cleanliness, professionalism, and strict adherence to hospital procedures in order to protect the mission-critical nature of a 24/7/365 hospital environment.
