Ultimate Properties

ABcom served as the design/build telecommunications contractor for Ultimate Properties, the owner/developer of a four building commercial office plaza in Peoria, Arizona.

ABcom’s scope of work began with the campus inter-building backbone copper cabling to provide telecommunications services to the first of four buildings on this campus.

Working with Ultimate Properties, ABcom designed and installed the structured cabling systems in this building including voice/data horizontal cabling, and CATV cabling.

Lumension Security

ABcom served as the design/build telecommunications contractor on the build out of the data center and structured cabling infrastructure for the Lumension Security corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.

ABcom provided high-performance Category 6 cabling to provide connectivity to the servers and networking equipment located in the data center. All cabling in the data center was routed overhead in basket tray supported from the structure above.

In Lumension’s adjacent test lab, ABcom provided a flexible solution of multi-user telecommunications outlet assemblies (MUTOAs) attached to the overhead basket tray system to allow quick connectivity to their test bed of PCs on rolling baker’s racks.

In the office areas, ABcom provided a Category 5e cabling solution to nearly 600 cable locations to support voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephony and networking for the end user workstations.

General Mills

ABcom has performed structured cabling installations for General Mills in Minnesota, Arizona, and sites nationwide since ABcom’s founding in 1995. At General Mills’ regional sales facility in Scottsdale, Arizona ABcom was the design/build telecommunications contractor on their tenant improvement project.

ABcom provided Category 5e cabling to provide connectivity to over 75 cable locations to support voice telephony, local area networking (LAN), and wireless local area networking (WLAN) for the end user workstations.

ABcom also remodeled the existing telecommunications rooms providing additional horizontal/vertical wire management and custom-fabricated patch cables to neatly organize and manage the interconnection of horizontal station cables to the network switches. This has proven to make management of the structured cabling infrastructure more efficient for IT personnel at General Mills.

Southwest Ambulance

ABcom served as the design/build low voltage contractor for the Southwest Ambulance corporate headquarters in Mesa, Arizona. This site was a welcome change for the operations of Southwest Ambulance as it centralized operations which were previously spread across multiple sites in the area.

ABcom designed and installed the campus inter-building copper and fiber optic backbone cabling, premise voice/data structured cabling, wireless local area networking (LAN), video security system, network video recording system, access control system, intercom system, audio visual system, and RF distribution system for this 4 building campus which serves the administrative, operations, training, fleet maintenance, and supply warehousing for Southwest Ambulance’s greater Phoenix operations.

As one point of contact for all low voltage systems, ABcom served an integral role in the design and construction of the low voltage systems on this campus.

This site is an excellent example of the convergence of systems onto the IP network utilizing high-performance Category 6 cabling as the physical media. The 43 cameras onsite transmit video via the network to the centralized network video recorder providing reliable, and secure video storage. The access control system, audio visual system, and intercom system all utilize the Category 6 cabling as a transmission medium as well.

To assist the training department at Southwest Ambulance, ABcom has installed audio visual systems in the auditorium and classrooms capable of integrating mixed media sources into the classroom curriculum.

Greater Phoenix Economic Council

ABcom served as the design/build telecommunications contractor on the structured cabling infrastructure upgrade of the GPEC headquarters on the 25th floor of the Phelps Dodge tower in downtown Phoenix.

ABcom provided Category 6 cabling to provide connectivity to nearly 150 cable locations to support voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephony, local area networking (LAN), and wireless local area networking (WLAN) for the end user workstations.

ABcom also removed and recycled the abandoned copper cabling consistent with our company’s commitment to promoting renewable resources.

Pecos Professional Plaza

ABcom served as the design/build low voltage contractor for each of the medical professionals identified above. ABcom’s scope of work began with the campus inter-building backbone copper and fiber optic cabling providing services to each of the four buildings on this campus.

Working with each of the tenants, ABcom designed and installed all of the low voltage systems in each of the suites including voice/data structured cabling, audio visual systems, paging systems, RF distribution, and digital satellite service.

To provide patients with an inviting and memorable experience, most of the medical professionals have flat panel LCD and Plasma displays in waiting and patient areas. In one suite an in-house television network broadcasts several television channels to each of the pediatric patient rooms allowing the patients to select from any one of the age-specific channels broadcasting from the front office. Who says going to the doctor can’t be a fun experience for kids and adults alike?

The Plaza Companies

The Meritas School

ABcom installed security cameras around the perimeter of the school. Technicians also installed a plasma display screen in the lobby of the Administration building. This existing school has been vacant for a couple of years. ABcom made sure that everything was up and running by toning, tagging and testing every voice/data location in the school.

The Biodesign Institute – Arizona State University

ABcom served as the cabling partner to our strategic partner Technology Providers, Inc. (TPI) who were selected by Arizona State University to provide the unique, state-of-the-art audio visual systems for the Biodesign Institute.

This 170,000-square-foot building, the first of four that will make up ASU's Biodesign Institute, will be home to 285 researchers and eight of the Institute's initial 10 centers. This sleek-looking building and its state-of-the-art labs incorporate the latest innovations in design and functionality in order to promote scientific inquiry and collaboration.

Incorporating information and images to educate employees and visitors alike, the visionaries at this facility have designed a system able to manage and deliver customizable and scheduled content to over 50 displays.

The Biodesign Institute incorporates multiple audiovisual systems that serve as presentation platforms and provide content to various atriums, lobbies, and break rooms throughout the building. Powerful software that controls on-screen graphics allows these systems to provide intuitive command and control functionality over the display, thus offering the Institute's support staff optimal expediency in their day-to-day responsibilities.

Avondale Mazda

ABcom served as the design/build low voltage contractor for the Avondale Mazda facility in Avondale, Arizona. ABcom’s scope of work began with understanding the unique requirements of a family-owned automobile dealership as it endeavors to set itself apart from the competition. Avondale Mazda represents one of the first dealerships to implement Mazda’s most current dealership concept. Mazda’s excitement towards Avondale Mazda’s state-of-the-art dealership was clearly communicated by upper level management of Mazda during a presentation at Avondale Mazda’s grand opening.

ABcom designed and installed all of the low voltage systems at this dealership including voice/data structured cabling, audio visual systems, paging systems, RF distribution, digital satellite service, video security, digital video recording, and intrusion alarm systems. The dealership is protected by a security system and video surveillance system to secure the building and lot 24/7/365.

To provide customers with an inviting and memorable experience, Avondale Mazda has flat panel Plasma and LCD displays throughout the dealership. The background music system provides high-fidelity, high-energy music throughout the facility.

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Rental Car Center

ABcom served as the local low voltage contractor responsible for the installation of all voice/data structured cabling, outside plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic backbone cabling, telecommunications room (TR) build out, wireless local area network (WLAN), video surveillance, digital video storage, and security systems for Avis Budget Group, Inc.’s national integrators at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Rental Car Center.

This centralized rental car center supports 13 rental car companies on a 141 acre site with a three-level garage capable of holding 5,600 rental cars ready for customer rental. On the top of the garage a 125,000 square feet facility is where one will find the customer service desks for each of the rental companies including Avis and Budget.

The Budget and Avis facilities have approximately 400 cameras throughout their fully self-sufficient rental car campuses with fueling, washing, maintenance, and office facilities. As the third largest rental car market in the United States securing, tracking, and monitoring the more than one million rental car transactions each year requires reliable, effective, and professionally installed low voltage systems.

Sun Health Boswell Hospital

ABcom currently provides ongoing service and maintenance work at the Sun Health Boswell Hospital. The scope of work performed at this site includes pre-terminated laser optimized multimode fiber optic cable assemblies in the data center, Category 6 cabling and installation of wireless access points (WAPs) to support the campus-wide deployment of Sun Health’s wireless local area network (WLAN), copper and fiber optic intra-building/inter-building backbone cabling, renovation of telecommunications rooms (TRs), point-to-point fixed wireless to connect remote medical office buildings to the Sun Health network, audio visual cabling to support patient monitors, and miscellaneous work throughout the hospital.

All work in an occupied hospital requires the highest levels of precision, cleanliness, professionalism, and strict adherence to hospital procedures in order to protect the mission-critical nature of a 24/7/365 hospital environment.

Sun Health Del E. Webb Hospital Expansion

ABcom is serving as the telecommunications contractor for the structured cabling infrastructure and paging system at the Del E. Webb expansion project located in Sun City West, Arizona. This project is a six-story tower expansion to the existing Del E. Webb hospital.

ABcom is providing a high-performance Category 6 solution to over 3,000 cable locations to support traditional telephony, local area networking (LAN), and wireless local area networking (WLAN). ABcom will also provide the coaxial RF distribution cabling to provide broadcast television to the patient rooms.

ABcom will build out four telecommunications rooms (TRs) in a consistent footprint to facilitate ease of maintenance by the Telco/IT personnel. Copper and fiber optic backbone cabling provides connectivity to each of the four TRs from the adjacent data center/phone room in the existing tower. Redundant copper and fiber optic backbone from each floor’s TR to the corresponding floor’s TR in the existing tower will protect the mission-critical operations of this hospital. ABcom will also furnish and install the paging system to provide communications between staff and priority broadcast paging in the event of an emergency.

Copper and fiber inter-building outside plant (OSP) cabling provided connectivity to the Sun Health network from adjacent facilities.

ABcom also provided Category 6 cabling and installation of wireless access points (WAPs) to support the campus-wide deployment of Sun Health’s wireless local area network (WLAN).

Blue Cross Blue Shield

ABcom served as the design/build telecommunications contractor for the structured cabling infrastructure at the 8220 Phase II building for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona in Phoenix.

ABcom provided a hybrid solution of Category 5e and high-performance Category 6 to over 1900 cable locations to support traditional telephony and networking for the end user workstations.

ABcom built out four telecommunications rooms (TRs) in a consistent footprint to facilitate ease of maintenance by the Telco/IT personnel. Copper and fiber optic backbone cabling provided connectivity to each of the four TRs from the adjacent 8220 Phase 1 building.

This project was a fast-track project requiring intense coordination between Telco/IT personnel and the construction trades responsible for erecting the building.

Allied Waste Corporate Headquarters

ABcom served as the design/build telecommunications contractor on the build out of the data center and structured cabling infrastructure for the Allied Waste Industries, Inc. corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

ABcom provided high-performance Category 6 cabling and 50/125 micron pre-terminated laser optimized multimode fiber assemblies to provide connectivity to the servers, networking equipment, and storage area network devices located in the data center. All cabling in the data center was routed overhead in cable runway supported from the server cabinets and networking racks.

In the main tower, ABcom provided a Category 5e cabling solution to over 1300 cable locations to support voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephony and networking for the end user workstations.

ABcom built out eight telecommunications rooms (TRs) in a consistent footprint to facilitate ease of maintenance by the IT personnel. Copper and fiber optic backbone cabling provided connectivity to each of the eight TRs from the data center.

ABcom has provided a number of low voltage solutions for Trillium Residential and its inventory of condominium and apartment complexes.

After providing voice and data cabling systems for Trillium’s corporate headquarters located in Tempe, Arizona, ABcom was enlisted to provide services for their clubhouse and fitness facilities. ABcom services included installation of voice/data cabling, plasma/LCD displays, surround sound, outside speaker systems, projector systems, DVR security monitoring, and automation systems. Each installation comprises custom designs which reflect the elite experience at Trillium constructed properties.

High-Tech Institute

A.T. Still University

ABcom provides voice and data cabling to A.T. Still University for the faculty, students and staff at its Mesa location. Along with service work, we have provided installations for state of the art medical simulation rooms, air blown fiber, renovation of existing laboratories, and two new construction dental buildings. ABcom has also installed CATV, audio visual cabling for board rooms, and security burglar alarm systems.

In addition to network cabling services, ABcom maintains and installs all video surveillance equipment both on and off site. Using the latest technologies in network video recorders, we installed security cameras, encoders, and network video recorders allowing for surveillance on multiple buildings including offsite facilities located in different cities.

IHOP

ABcom performed the renovations of existing IHOP dining facilities throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. Technicians installed all voice, data, and point of sale (POS) cable in the dining, kitchen, and office areas. The solution included special grounding, shielded cable, and grounded connectivity to ensure the operation of new POS technology.

ABcom worked during off-hour shifts to ensure no interruption in IHOP’s regular business hours saving the owner’s days of down time and lost revenue.

Herbert M. Hanson Jr. Hall

ABcom is providing the Voice, Data and CATV horizontal infrastructure for the new Carlson School of Management, Herbert M. Hanson Jr. Hall, which is expected to open in March, 2008.

The expansive fiber backbone for the seven telecommunications rooms will consist of a hybrid fiber optic cable; 24 strands of multi-mode and 24 strands of single mode. For the copper backbone, ABcom is providing combinations of 1200, 400, and 700 pair category riser cables.

The Voice and Data horizontal will be with enhanced 350 MHZ Category 5E from the telecommunication rooms on each floor to the workstations. The CATV will be RG6 cable to the nearest telecommunications room. Riser will be distributed with RG11.

Regions Hospital

The Regions Hospital expansion project will consist of ten floors. Each floor will have horizontal voice, data and wireless access points put into its infrastructure, which will be serviced by a telecommunications room fed from the new Alternate Point Of Presence (APOP) on the first floor of the addition. Each telecommunications room will receive 100 pair of Category 3 and 12 strands of 50 micron 10 gig laser optimized fiber and 12 strands of single mode fiber optic cables.

ABcom will be installing over 4000 cables with the latest technology of Category 6 to all workstations in preparation for VoIP (Voice over IP). We will be working closely with other contractors with 3D CAD in order to have seamless
coordination and timing on this extensive project.

North Metro Harness Initiative

This facility is comprised of multiple buildings tied together in a campus environment. Each of the various systems are being installed by ABcom thus providing a consistent infrastructure and organized installation.

The back bone consists of indoor / outdoor fiber, single and multi-mode, and large bundle copper connectivity. Each of the out buildings have a complete telecommunications room that homeruns back to the Grand Stand structure. Many backbone systems are also directly installed to the Security, TV Broadcast, Mutual betting, Timing and Satellite Farm from devices needed to be monitored by different sources.

A total of 225 surveillance cameras, inside and outside, are on the data network as IP devices. All horizontal cabling is Category 6 for data and Category 5E for VoIP (voice over IP). Other devices are Mutual Betting stations, Message Boards and a complete Broadband network for television and simulcast.

This National Accounts large scale retail installation project takes advantage of Panasonic's dual output camera feature. By using this hybrid approach to incorporate both analog and IP video signals, the customer is able to use both a standard matrix video switch as well and network based monitoring and recording.

Minnesota Security Hospital - St. Peter / Forensic Nursing Home

ABcom installed a Verint Nextiva Digital Video Storage System with integrated Video Analytics. Utilizing edge device technology, this system provides automated perimeter security detection and reporting that a high security facility requires. The networked video system allows for campus-wide connectivity to a single enterprise level monitoring and recording system.

ABcom provided complete security installations for the new Forensic Nursing Facility, including copper and fiber cabling infrastructure, high security access control, security intercom, network video management, perimeter analytic video detection and touch screen PLC system interface and control.

The Panasonic I-Pro Video System, designed by Elert and Associates of Stillwater, Minnesota, combines the well developed Panasonic SD III camera technology with the power of a full IP system.

Honeywell

ABcom was selected to provide low-voltage cabling system solutions for Honeywell's $40M Golden Valley renovation project. The consolidation of five metro offices into one central location requires complete attention to detail to minimize downtime for employees moving to new workstations.

At completion, this project will consist of more than 1.5 million feet of Category 6 cabling installed to more than 8000 locations. Thousands of feet of fiber optic and multiple-pair copper cabling was installed from the main data center and phone room to 10 IDF locations. Cabling was installed for the research and development CCTV system to a total of 34 locations including several outdoor locations.

ABcom worked numerous overtime hours throughout the holiday season to accommodate Travelers in its efforts to re-cable numerous floors in their North and South office towers. The project required as many as sixteen technicians on-site at once to meet the aggressive project schedule. More than 1,200 cables were installed on this project.

ABcom has been Trane’s cabling contractor of choice since 1997.

Since we began working together, ABcom has installed a complete voice and data cabling solution at Trane’s main office complex in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. This project included a data center and five IDFs. ABcom also installed a universal Category 6 solution at Trane’s new executive offices located adjacent to the main building. Each site is equipped with a wireless network.

ABcom continues to provide assistance with the cabling needs of Trane as the company continues to grow into a world leader in climate control systems.

Lockheed Martin Corporation

ABcom provided Lockheed Martin Corporation with a multi-faceted Security System Solution. The project included a wall to wall remodel of the security command center, complete reorganization of cabling pathways, equipment locations, system hardware upgrades, console furniture, power systems and custom carpentry requirements.

This project required a full complement of systems design and project management to coordinate the multiple trades and systems as well as existing infrastructure. ABcom services were completed with minimal disruptions and system downtime.

Internet Broadcasting

ABcom provided the cable infrastructure, security and broadband video for Internet Broadcasting's new corporate office. Each of the 350 workstations consisted of three (3) category 6 cables to support the voice and data connections for each employee.

The station cables were supported from consolidation points located through-out the facility and under the floor. Each of the seventy five consolidation points were fully populated with 24 cables to each. The Server Room was built utilizing 18” ladder rack and APC Cabinets. Every portion of the room was ground to EIA/TIA standards and local building codes. Fiber and copper connectivity was provided to the East and West telecommunication rooms and to the demarcation room. There was also fiber provided to the new television studio.

Security solutions were IP based and were by Integral Solutions.

ABcom installed the Voice and Data System with over 6,650 information outlets, 1.2 million feet of Cat 5 certified horizontal cable, 9950 pairs of riser backbone, 1,600 strands of multi-mode fiber backbone, 250 strands of multi-mode fiber to the desktop, CATV cabling system for the building, and a 2-way radio antenna cable.

Minneapolis Central Library

ABcom installed the voice/data and wireless network system solutions. The complete horizontal and backbone voice/data system solution includes more than 80 miles of Category 6 cable at the new 365,000 square foot facility. This project took almost two years to complete as it included more than 2,000 horizontal cables and almost 1,500 fiber terminations.
